Wesley Chapel, Florida — Hundreds of foreclosed homes have been pulled off the market in recent days, according to Peter Murphy, President of Home Encounter. “It looks like that volume is accelerating,” he told 10 News on Thursday. Murphy blames a foreclosure freeze implemented by three big lenders, JP Morgan, Bank of America and GMAC as they investigate their foreclosure practices in several states, Florida included. The big lenders are accused of filing inaccurate documents and rubber stamping foreclosure affidavits without even a look, a process that’s been dubbed the “Robosigning scandal”. ‘The banks have put us in such a tough position because they haven’t done the process correctly. If they just did the process right, they could have foreclosed on those people that deserve to be foreclosed on, but they messed up the process,” said Murphy. While the freeze could help buy more time for distressed homeowners, it’s causing a big problem for families looking to buy those distressed homes. ‘This was it,” said Joshua Cooper, as he led his two-year-old son around a four bedroom Chapel Pines Boulevard home in Wesley Chapel. Cooper and his wife spent nearly a year searching for a home to buy. He says they tried to negotiate short sales on three different homes, but struck out each time. And then, they found the Chapel Pines home. It was exactly what he was looking for. ‘It was already bank owned, wouldn’t be any trouble, close quick. We’d be done in 30-40 days,” he said. The …
